Presenting a magnificent off-shore vessel ordered by Mr. William Weinberg and meticulously crafted by George Moore, back in the glamorous 1960s. This exceptional yacht boasts a rare 6” thick hull, a testament to the unparalleled craftsmanship and luxury that defined an era. She was built to easily cruise across from California to Hawaii, because of Mr. Weinburg's business dealings in both areas. But also noted as the yacht leading the Del Rey Yacht Club's prestigious Regatta to Acapulco, many times. Also has taken students out on discovery trips to southern islands and now exploring the breathtaking coastlines of Canada and Alaska. This vessel embodies a legacy of adventure and elegance. . The Naval Architect – GEORGE W. MOORE – was given this project and the PIONEER build became a reality. George W. Moore’s background comes from reestablishing the Royal British Naval fleet after WWII. His extensive knowledge of how to build a ship, not a boat, was very important to Mr. Weinberg. This vessel was built for the purpose of crossing oceans, and it was a must to have an exceptional long range. But the living space was not to be neglected and had to have class according to Mr. Weinberg’s tastes. Finalizing a build location and sourcing out the best equipment and materials had to be first worked out. They built PIONEER in the Kettenburg yard located in San Diego, which included their skilled Kettenburg staff. Thus 3 years later, in 1967, “PIONEER” was launched from San Diego. PIONEER has left her mark where ever she has landed. Many trips back and forth to Hawaii. Years of travel up and down the Pacific Northwest. Hollywood used her in movies. Lead vessel for the famous Del Rey Yacht Club race. This vessel has history and a amazing story. Upgrades through the years have focused on keeping the gorgeous teak, dark walnut and mahogany finishing's in place. The engine room is so well designed that little has changed there. Engine rebuilds took place in 2012. Tank cleaning in 2022. Hull maintenance over the years. Hit the ignition and she still purrs along quietly when ever those engines start. PIONEER is a mechanically sound vessel but the layout is designed to give the owner the feeling of strength and comfort and an edge of sophistication. PIONEER is currently for sale and if you are looking for that special yacht, give me a call.
